The Associate IMSLE course is designed for busy professionals who are wanting to refine and hone their current teaching practices, improve student outcomes and specialise in a Structured Literacy approach + dyslexia. The Associate course offers training in all essential elements and principles of a Structured Literacy Approach. MSL is an instructional, multi-component approach. Teachers are taught how to ensure lessons are structured, systematic, diagnostic and cumulative. How to engage, motivate, promote active learning, and teach via direct and explicit instruction. MSL is an approach which is highy structured, yet flexible, allowing teachers to hone their craft of targeting and tailoring their lessons to meet the needs of their student/s. MSL is emotionaly and cognitvely sound- promoting active learning, (generative learning), retrieval of practice (review) with intensive reinforcement- making MSL an ideal approach for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia or similar challenges. MSL is an inclusive approach suitable for students in all tiers and all classes.
Teachers will confidently build capability by bridging knowledge to SLA practices via
key components of research frameworks and models. A clear pathway will be paved to undertand and apply Learning theories and models (SoL) to improve lesson delivery and student achievement and engagement. IMSLE Associate Course Structuring
5 days of professional development and learning, guided practicum and useful, relevant readings.
Approved attendees can choose their path; 5 days PLD with access to all materials only or take all 3 components.
Completion of all 3 components meet International Standards for Structured Literacy Training.
Upon successful full course completion individuals can apply for recognition and be individually accredited via the Australian Dyslexia Association- AMADA

IMSLE Associate Training Cost- One fee applies: $2,500.00 AUD
The course is valued at a much higher fee than offered. IMSLE has not increased the course fee since 2013 making the course accessible to self funded teachers and others.
Further information on the Associate IMSLE Course Structure:
5 day PLD training-Mode face to face or zoom- IMSLE offers an engaing and dynamic 5 days of core instruction. During this time attendees will be well equipped to take essential elements of instruction and principles to target and tailor the learning needs of their students. All resources are included, as well as access to the extensive IMSLE dropbox folders and files- this includes pre, post IMSLE diagnostics, lesson guides, templates and more.
Offered- IMSLE Practicum: Self paced. IMSLE offers a guided practicum over 8- 12 months, regular weekly MSL teaching with an *approved focus student (can be in and part of an intervention group). The student focus forms the basis of a thorough evidence based case study. IMSLE will guide you for the duration of the practicum for maximum documented results. IMSLE supplies all necessary pre to post progress diagnostics for tracking data and progress, teaching and recording templates, guides, lesson logs and IMSLE Student Profile. IMSLE Practicum hours range from a minimum of 50 practice hours.
Desired hours to meet international accreditation standards with ADA are in total 100 practice hours
The practice hours can include; Tier 1 classroom teaching, Tier 2 small group focus and Tier 3 focus student and others.
All Attendees receive access to the extensive IMSLE dropbox platform (folders and files) where IMSLE documents and reosurces can be accessed. Folders include supporting documentation, Step by Step guides to successful completion, IMSLE lesson templates, monitoring templates, diagnostic tools, data templates, research readings and more.
Offered- Relevant readings: Self paced. IMSLE offers an array of readings to further extend attendees knowledge on areas relevant to practice. Attendees will have access to these via the IMSLE dropbox platform (folders and files).
*Expected Associate IMSLE course completion (if taking all components): 8-12 months in total over 3-4 terms, depending on frequency of lessons per week.
Upon Completion of all course components: All work is marked by IMSLE and a transcript of results and a IMSLE certificate is issued for the 5 day intensive component. Successful candidates who have evidenced successfully completion of the IMSLE Associate course can apply to the ADA for individual accreditation by submitting the AMADA application forms.
Inclusions: The IMSLE 5 day PLD training includes: All materials and resources, access to the extensive IMSLE dropbox, self paced and guided practicum, step by step guide, teaching models, student recording, lesson template, guidelines including all IMSLE diagnostic tools and required readings in the field. Access for active trainees to join the exclusive IMSLE private FB group for networking, support, research and related resources.

A: Yes, you can, depending on your situation, IMSLE offers a refresher pathway to rejoin the practicum & readings. Quite a few teachers have taken this option to successful Associate course completion.

The Associate IMSLE course is a pre requisite for entry into Morphology MSL. The morphology course will extend knowledge and application of the fascinating realm of morphology, vocabulary, structured writing, including parts of speech, and extened spelling patterns using MSL principles of instruction.

Successful completion of the Associate MSL course is a pre requisite for entry into IMSLE Diagnostician course. This course is suitable to approved AMADA's who want to expand their knowledge and skills of diagnostic assessment,interpreting and collating formative data, profiling for identification, instruction and report writing.
